Why I Wander

Suitcase practically packs itself after 50+ years of traveling. Oops I almost gave away my age there didn’t I! Actually I’m happy to be 57. I’ve now outlived my dad by 6 years. And should I be so fortunate to pass 61 then I can take a deep breath and know I will have made my parents happy that I should carry on longer than they did. My father’s story is for another page so for now I’m going to speak of travel or in my case, wander.

My parents traveled around the globe. I haven’t made it quite around the globe but I have visited more than 530 cities in over 25 countries.

Can’t list all my favorites but let me start my memory jogging with trips we’ve taken with Bridgestone and Firestone. More about why we travel with them later!

Mexico, specifically Nuevo Vallarta and THE GRAND VELAS.

One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever stayed and a spa that will take you away to that perfect place of ultimate tranquility. Truly exquisite.

And then there was the gulf side of Mexico. Cancun and Playa del Carmen. Our most recent visit there was this past January at Secrets Maroma.

I rarely left this cozy space. What a perfect place to escape the frigid winter we were experiencing in New York State. Everything about this resort is first class. If the opportunity arises I’ll be back in a flash!

Costa Rica!

Not particularly my favorite destination. Our hotel was lovely, again, top notch, but I just wasn’t crazy about the place. However our travel hosts were and always are….incredible! This trip we were escorted by our favorites from BI. Yes they are the global leaders!   http://www.biworldwide.com/en/about-us/

Speaking of BI. A few years ago we traveled “across the pond” for an incredible journey to London and a surprise one day hop to Paris via the Eurostar. Have you tried it? It was my second experience on this fabulous train! First time was a different trip to London with my then 17 year old daughter. I too had a surprise for her with a one day stop in Paris. Yes Paris is everything it’s said to be. Sadly my husband didn’t get to truly experience it’s charm on our tire trip as we had quite a few people along for the ride. Doubtful I’ll get him to try it again as there are so many other places he has on his bucket list. But I will say that one of the highlights of the day I was there with my daughter was visiting the D’Orsay Museum.

I lost my breath when I saw the REAL Monet on display!
